September is a very busy time in recruiting to say the least, as coaches across the country head to recruits' homes and schools to watch workouts and open gyms. Meanwhile, players are making both official and unofficial visits, creating a hectic schedule for everyone on the recruiting trail. As usual UConnBall.com has the latest news on the UConn staff and their targets.
Over the past few weeks, UConnBall has learned many new things about UConn in the recruiting world. Here are some important tidbits as of 9/26/11:
Elite 2012 guard, Rodney Purvis
had UConn's Jim Calhoun and assistant coach Kevin Ollie at his house in Raleigh, North Carolina on 9/12 for an in-home visit. Purvis and his family learned a great deal about UConn both academically and athletically, which left a lasting impression on Purvis and his family. Following the in-home visit, Purvis unofficially visited that following weekend from the 16th to the 18th. Per Purvis, he thoroughly enjoyed the campus visit as well as meeting and playing pickup games with current Huskies Andre Drummond and DeAndre Daniels among others. Stay tuned to UConnBall.com on the recruitment of Purvis, which is really heating up. Our sources believe that UConn is in great shape with Purvis.
Following the Purvis in home, Calhoun and Ollie travelled to Tilton, New Hampshire on Tuesday 9/13. Among the players they were watching workout were class of 2013 targets Nerlens Noel
, Goodluck Okonoboh
, and 2014 guard Wayne Selden
Coach Ollie then went to see 2013 Center prospect Dominic Woodson
at his school Vermont Academy on 9/14.
Jim Calhoun and Kevin Ollie also made a visit to 2012 rising defensive big man Chris Obekpa
's home on 9/19 in Centereach, New York. According to sources, Obekpa really enjoyed the in-home from the staff, they were said to be cracking jokes and really enjoyed each others sense of humor. , a top power forward in the class of 2012 from Memphis also received an in home from UConn on 9/15. In addition to the in home, Stokes is scheduling a visit to UConn, and he will be visiting Florida for their football game against Alabama this weekend 9/30.
2012 guard Archie Goodwin
was scheduled to visit UConn officially on 9/30, but Goodwin committed to Kentucky on 9/20.
UConn made 2012 power forward Tyrone Haughton
's final five along with South Carolina, Alabama, Virginia Tech, and Alabama. Haughton visited South Carolina last weekend unofficially. A visit to UConn has not been finalized yet.
On the 23rd and 24th, 2013 forward Brannen Greene
from Georgia visited UConn unofficially. Greene loved the visit as he was on campus on Ray Allen day. UConn definitely made a good impression on Greene. Look for more detailed information on his visit on the front page soon.
Top 2013 power forward Chris Walker
announced that he will be making his college decision on November 15th. Walker says he will be choosing between Florida, Kentucky, UConn, Ohio State, Kansas, Baylor and Kansas State. Walker claims offers from every school on his list except Kentucky, to date.
UConn is also high on class of 2014 Houston forward Mavin Saunders'

UConn staff saw 2014 Power Forward Chris McCullough
of Salisbury, CT work out at his school the evening of 9/26.
Lastly, 2014 elite Center prospect Jahlil Okafor
has officially received a UConn offer.
