Coast 2 Coast Hoops has broken the news that 2013 Deer Valley (CA) point guard Kendall Smith, has cut his list to UConn, UNLV and UCLA. The 6-foot-3, 185 pounder broke down the remaining three schools with us.
UConn: "UConn has a great program with great history. Kemba Walker is one of my favorite point guards and Marcus Williams' dad is my AAU coach and I've worked out with Marcus a few times. I also love Coach (Kevin) Ollie, he's a great coach and a christian."
UNLV: "UNLV is close to home and I like their style of play. They let there guards push the ball. I could be be an instant impact there and get a lot of early minutes as a freshman. I would be a big help physically."
UCLA: "UCLA is another school with great tradition. Russell Westbrook is my favorite player and they sent him to the NBA. Ben Howland is a great coach and he can help get me to the NBA. They provide a good situation for me (playing time)."
UConn has been making a strong push for Kendall as of late, saying that they could use him in a four-guard set.
Kendall later added that he has no official visit dates set yet but may visit UConn on December 29th and UNLV on January 3rd.
Expect a decision sometime in January.
