UConnBall.com spoke with 2012 wing Amile Jefferson.
UConnBall: How did your summer go with AAU stuff?
Amile: We played well. I played well and definitely improved as a player. This summer went real well.
UConnBall: What do you feel you can improve on in your game?
Amile: Improve on my jump shot overall. Also free throws and I need to get stronger and get my body ready for the next level.
UConnBall: Who do you compare your game to in the NBA?
Amile: Not just one guy but the versatile guys. I like watching Wesley Johnson and Kevin Durant. They play with a lot of heart and intensity. I take guys like that and try to play like them.
UConnBall: What schools are recruiting you the hardest right now?
Amile: NC State, UConn, Villanova, Ohio State, Syracuse, Maryland, and Miami.
UConnBall: Are any schools standing out?
Amile: I’m still wide open. I didn’t take all my visits yet. I’ve already visited Villanova, Temple, NC State and I’ve been down to Maryland for some games. But visits will definitely make a difference in a school for me.
UConnBall: Do you plan on trimming that list down?
Amile: When I take my visits I’ll come out with five schools.
UConnBall: Who are you talking to at UConn and what are they telling you?
Amile: I talked to Coach Calhoun last. He’s a great guy and a real genuine guy and great coach. He tells me about the program and what they do at UConn. It’s a great program.
UConnBall: Who are you talking to at Syracuse and what are they telling you there?
Amile: I talk to Coach Hopkins. They do a real good job at recruiting Philly kids and they have a great tradition.
UConnBall: Do you have any visits planned?
Amile: I’m setting up a visit to Ohio State. I’m not sure if I have a solid deal on that but I definitely know I’m going to take a visit there. Hoping I can get a visit to Maryland and Syracuse because they’re close to home. I’m also setting a date to UConn whether it is official or unofficial.
UConnBall: Do you have a timetable on your decision?
Amile: I don’t have one right now. I’m not in a rush to decide right now. I want to take my visits.
UConnBall: What can you bring to a program?
Amile: I have to get better first. I can bring good basketball and be able to rebound, defend, score and pass and just be a contributor.
UConnBall: What musical artists do you listen to?
Amile: Meek Mill, definitely.
UConnBall: What do you enjoy doing off the court?
Amile: I like to go bowling in Philly a lot.
UConnBall: Do you have a favorite food?
Amile: It’s got to be a Philly cheese steak of course.
